Scotland will begin their 2025 Autumn Nations Series taking on New Zealand in Edinburgh on Saturday. Can Gregor Townsend’s side overturn their historical deadlock against the All Blacks? Here is our prediction.
Scotland have improved remarkably in world rugby and their statement victory over USA in their warm-up friendly on Friday further underlined this progress. Gregor Townsend’s men ran in 13 tries to dismantle the Eagles with a staggering 85-0 shutout victory at Murrayfield.
This result marked their third victory in four tests after defeat to France in the Six Nations. They have won five of their last six home matches, but have lost six of their last nine tests against higher-ranked opposition.
After narrowly losing the Rugby Championship title to South Africa in September, New Zealand got off to a winning start on their 2025 Autumn tour, defeating third-ranked Ireland by 13 points in Chicago. Scott Robertson's charges came from three points down to edge the Irish side 26-13, extending their winning run to three matches.
The win in Chicago also marked their fourth victory in five away tests. Moreover, the World No. 2 have yet to taste defeat in their last 32 meetings with Scotland from time immemorial, winning 30 and drawing two.
