Reims vs Metz Prediction & Betting Tips - Ligue 1

After a solid run in recent weeks, Metz will hope to finally rise from the relegation zone when they travel to Reims. The two sides are on opposite ends in the league standings, with hosts Reims ninth and Metz 17th. Reims’ hopes for Europe have taken a hit in recent weeks and here they’ll come in search of stability. At 35 points after 25 matches, they are five points below sixth spot. A run of just a win in seven league matches isn’t really encouraging. However, they’ll take encouragement from having drawn 2-2 with PSG last time out. The more concerning thing for Reims coming into this game is their home form. The last four home league matches haven't returned a win for Reims, just two draws and as many losses. In that run they also failed to score in two matches though generally their scoring returns haven't been great. In 25 league matches, Reims have averaged 1.28 goals per game and scored more than once in just one of five league games at home. Six of their last 10 league matches had under 2.5 goals.

Metz met two sides directly above and below them in their last two matches, and unsurprisingly, emerged winners. In their most recent outing, they overcame bottom paced Clermont 1-0. Georges Mikautadze scored from the penalty spot, his third goal in as many matches to give Metz their sixth win of the season. Coming into this encounter, Metz have bagged 23 points, placing them just two below the safety zone. They will want to bag three more here and possibly get out of the red zone. However, compared to their last two matches, this will be a tougher outing. They will know that too well, having had to come from behind to salvage a draw in the reverse fixture, which ended 2-2. Without a loss to Reims in nine competitive matches, Metz will be confident of doing well here. They will however need to work on their away form, which has two wins only in the last 10 league games. Notably though, four of Metz’s six wins in the league came in away matches.
