Second seed Carlos Alcaraz will next take on the unseeded Reilly Opelka to begin his quest for another US Open title. This will mark the first time the two players face off. Read on to see our prediction for this match. 

This is Reilly Opelka’s biggest match of the year thus far. The American has already achieved success against top-10 opposition this year and will be determined to add another feather to his cap. 

Opelka was most recently competing in Cincinnati, where he suffered a third-round exit. A finalist in Brisbane earlier in the year, Opelka has compiled a 28-21 record and is ranked 59th in the live ranking. 

Carlos Alcaraz is in red-hot form; he has been for the entire season. The Spaniard has compiled an incredible 54-6 record, which has led to six titles, including the French Open. 

Of the 12 tournaments he has been a part of, Alcaraz has made the semi-finals in at least nine. As a former US Open champion, he will be expected to once again challenge for the title. 

The world number two, who has lost just once since losing the Barcelona Open final back in May, is coming off a title run in Cincinnati. 

The winner from this match will face Juncheng Shang or Mattia Bellucci next.
