Rafael Nadal is the top seed in the ATP Tour Finals but amazingly has never won this title. He takes on Taylor Fritz in his first match with the others in this group being Felix Auger-Aliassime and Casper Ruud. Nadal first played the Tour Finals 16 years ago but has only ever reached two finals, the last being in 2013. This is his first time in the tournament since 2020 and he often doesn't play it due to injury. Nadal won his first three tournaments of 2022, including success in the Australian Open. His winning streak ended when being beaten by Taylor Fritz at Indian Wells but he wasn't 100% fit in that final. His only other title win this year was in the French Open in June. Nadal has only played one match since his last 16 exit at the US Open in August. That saw him lose to Tommy Paul in the Paris Masters.

Taylor Fritz only made it into these Tour Finals after Carlos Alcaraz withdrew due to injury. He's world ranked ninth and has won three titles this year. In addition to his Indian Wells win, the American has won on grass at Eastbourne and last month won the Japan Open beating Frances Tiafoe in three sets. Fritz has failed to get past the last 16 in two tournaments since that win in Japan. His most recent match saw him beaten in the Paris Masters by the then world number 188 Gilles Simon. Nadal leads him 2-1 in previous meetings. Since that Indian Wells loss, Nadal has beaten Fritz at Wimbledon. Back Nadal to win this but it might be best to do so in-play so you can see just how fit he is.
