NBA action in the early hours of Thursday morning will see the 22-11 Houston Rockets heading to the 17-20 Portland Trail Blazers in a Western Conference matchup. The Blazers are 11th in the West and the Rockets are 5th ahead of our prediction.

Although the Trail Blazers are only just in the playoff picture at present, things have started to turn for them, winning three straight and five of their last six. The Rockets are in town for back-to-back games as part of four straight at home for Portland.

Wins of late have included a trip to San Antonio to beat the Spurs as well as getting the better of the Boston Celtics. Both of those teams are second in their respective conference, so it has not just been cheap wins.

The Rockets beat the Trail Blazers comfortably when they met in Texas in mid-November, running out 140-116 winners. They also have won five of their last six after beating Phoenix in their most recent outing.

On the road has been more of a struggle for them of late, just 3-7 in their last 10 away from Toyota Center. That has taken their record to 11-9 on the road, compared to 11-2 when they have played at home.
