The 2025 World Cup of Darts will get underway on Thursday in Frankfurt, and in the first round, Poland will face a tricky match against South Africa. Poland are the number nine seed, while South Africa are unseeded. Let’s get into the match prediction.
Poland have featured in all but one World Cup since 2010 and holds a record of 10-14, though they have never managed to reach the knockout stages of the competition.
In 2023, Krzysztof Ratajski and Krzysztof Kciuk set the world record highest Pairs average of 118.10 against Lithuania, but the latter has been replaced by Radek Szaganski in the last two editions.
The Poles have won their first match in each of the last six tournaments, but have never won two in a row. Last year, they were ousted by Scotland in the second round.
Meanwhile, South Africa have featured in every World Cup since 2012 and remains the only African representative in the competition, now holding a tournament record of 13-14.
Their best finish in the tournament came in 2012 and 2014, when they reached the quarter-final, but they have failed to progress beyond the group stage since.
Devon Petersen will be making his return to the national team after missing out on the last two editions, and he will partner with Cameron Carolissen. South Africa lost to Northern Ireland in the opening round last year.

Our Poland vs South Africa Prediction
Despite holding a strong seeding, Poland have never reached the heights many have expected of them in the World Cup, but they are firm favourites to win this match and progress to round two.
South Africa are the only African representative in the competition and are bolstered by the return of Devon Petersen after a two-year hiatus. Poland should be too strong for the South Africans, but we do expect this match to go to at least a fifth leg. Our Poland vs South Africa prediction is over 4.5 legs.
