The Philadelphia 76ers will welcome the Milwaukee Bucks for a tantalizing 2024/25 NBA regular season opener. Both the Sixers and the Bucks start as favourites for the Eastern Conference playoffs. Here’s a look at our prediction for the match.
The hosts made the playoffs once again last season but failed to impress, losing in the first round. As one of the top sides from the East, they’ll be eager to send a clear message in this tie.
Nick Nurse’s men, who finished the last regular season with nine straight wins, had a shaky pre-season. They won three of their six games and averaged 109.8 points while allowing 107.
Joel Embiid missed the entire pre-season but is expected to be fit to play. New signing Paul George is listed as questionable.
The Bucks, also title favorites, will be without Khris Middleton for this trip due to injury. The rest of the squad, led by Giannis Antetokounmpo and Damian Lillard are, however, all fit.
Milwaukee, who also failed to impress in the playoffs last season, had a torrid pre-season. Doc Rivers’ men managed just one win in four friendly matches which was a close 111-107 victory.
They averaged just 96 points and allowed 110.8. That, though, isn’t expected to deter them coming into this tie. The Bucks have been dominant against the Sixers and have currently won the last four meetings.
