The bottom half of the draw has been a disaster for the seeded players. All of have been knocked out and we have unseeded pair Pablo Carreno Busta and Daniel Evans playing for a place in the final. The winner will take on either Hubert Hurkacz or Casper Ruud in Sunday's final. Busta is the world number 23 but has risen to 17th in the live rankings. A win over Evans can take him up another place and into the top 16. Busta hasn't had a great year and lost in the first round at both the French Open and Wimbledon. He did get to the final in Barcelona on his beloved clay. This is the first time though that he's made it past the last 16 of a hard court singles tournament. A win here will see him in his first ever Masters final. Wins in Montral have come against 11th seeded Matteo Berrettini, Holger Rune, seventh seed Jannik Sinner and qualifier Jack Draper.

Daniel Evans is also bidding to reach his first Masters final. He began this week ranked 39th but reaching this semi-final has taken him up to 23rd and a win here will take him into the top 20 and that would be a career high. Evans has played well since the American hard court season began. Last week saw him get to the last eight in Washington, including a win over Taylor Fritz. He repeated that feat this week and has also beaten Filip Krajinovic (in three sets), fifth seeded Andrey Rublev and Tommy Paul after losing the first set. Evans has already won one title this year, being victorious in a grass court tournament held in Nottingham. This is his first meeting with Busta and a bet on Evans to win looks advisable.

Our Pablo Carreño-Busta vs Daniel Evans Prediction

Daniel Evans did well in Washington last week and has been even better this week. He's had some good wins and again beaten Indian Wells winner Taylor Fritz. He faces Pablo Carreno Busta with both players hoping to reach their first Masters final. This may well go to three sets but it's Evans who seems to have the momentum and can get the win.

Daniel Evans wins
