Men's 1500m Final Predictions & Betting tips - Olympic Games

The men's 1500m final is on Tuesday evening in Paris. All three medallists from Tokyo are back for another final which makes it a more competitive event in which to make a prediction than perhaps the odds might suggest.

Gold in Tokyo went to Jakob Ingebrigtsen, the Norwegian runner is once more the world leader heading into Paris 2024. Still just 23 years of age, he has become a little more tactically versatile in recent years rather than just a front-runner as he has been in the past. 

It was not until the final in Tokyo that Ingebrigtsen got the better of the Kenyan athlete Timothy Cheruiyot. Since then, Ingebrigtsen has had his number, but Cheruiyot has still run the second quickest time of the year. That was in Monaco when just behind Ingebrigtsen so he is capable of running the favourite close when he is at the top of his game.

Josh Kerr is the second favourite with the bookmakers. He and Ingebrigsen have met 15 times, with Kerr only beating his rival twice. One of those was the final of the World Championships in Budapest last year with Ingebrigtsen claiming he was only beaten because he is ill. 

Kerr has run over different distances for most of 2024 with Ingebrigtsen claiming Kerr doesn't want to compete with him. The pair's barbed comments at one another will add another level of intrigue to this final.

The quickest in the semis was Yared Nuguse. He finished 4th in the fastest 1500m run this year at the Monaco Diamond League meeting but had both Ingebrigtsen and Cheruiyot in front of him on that occasion.
