Eighth seed Nuno Borges takes on wild card Stan Wawrinka in round one the 2025 Open 13 Provence. Unseeded opposition will be faced in round two, either Zizou Bergs, a qualifier or a lucky loser. Here's our match prediction.

These two players have only had one previous meeting. That was last year with Borges winning in three sets but it was played on clay and this is an indoor hard court event. Borges is the world number 39, nine places below his career-high.

The Portuguese player has won six of his nine matches this year. He made it to the last four in Auckland where Borges lost in three sets to possible round two opponent Zizou Bergs. The Australian Open saw him lose to Carlos Alcaraz in round three but he did take a set off him.

Since then he's just played in a Davis Cup tie, winning one match and losing the other.

Stan Wawrinka is yet to win a match this year. He's played in three tournaments and suffered losses to Lorenzo Sonego, Arthur Cazaux and most recently, Daniil Medvedev in Rotterdam. The world number 158 did take a set off Medvedev though.

Now aged 39 (40 on March 28) has now lost his last five matches, last winning in October. We tip Borges to win this.
