Novak Djokovic bids to reach the final of this tournament for the first time since 2018. He's lost his last two semi-finals in the ATP Tour Finals and takes on Taylor Fritz hoping to avoid an unwanted hat-trick. Djokovic won all three of his round-robin matches but had to play three tie-breaks, winning two of them. Friday saw him defeat Daniil Medvedev in three sets with both of the final two sets going to tie-breaks. The win was his 23rd in the last 24 matches he has played in singles tournaments. His win on Friday saw him move up to seventh in the world rankings. A win in this semi-final will see Djokovic rise up to fifth place.

For Taylor Fritz to reach the final, he has to beat Novak Djokovic for the first time. Five previous meetings have all been won by the Serb. This is their first meeting of 2022 but the American lost to Djokovic three times last year. Fritz wasn't expecting to be in this position. He only gained entry into these ATP Tour Finals when Carlos Alcaraz pulled out injured. Fritz has made the most of his luck with wins over Rafael Nadal and Felix Auger-Aliassime. He did well to reach this semi-final after losing his first match to Casper Ruud. His good run looks like ending here though. Back Djokovic to win in straight sets.
