Novak Djokovic is playing his first tournament since winning the Wimbledon title. He's had few problems in the Cincinnati Masters so far as he bids to win the title for the second year in a row. It's all ideal preparation for the upcoming US Open of course. After the exit of Roger Federer, the highest seed remaining after Djokovic is Daniil Medvedev. The ninth seed takes on Andrey Rublev in the quarter finals with the winner taking on Djokovic or Pouille. Djokovic has had to play two matches to reach the last eight. He first disposed of Sam Querrey and then beat Pablo Carrena Busta, both victories coming in straight sets with only 13 games lost.

Lucas Pouille is unseeded and is ranked 31st in the world. He is in his first quarter final since the Mercedes Cup in Germany two months ago. He did win a clay court tournament in France earlier this year but the highest ranked player he beat in that tournament was 117th. In Grand Slam tournaments, Pouille's best performance this year was reaching the semi-finals of the Australian Open. He eventually lost to his opponent in this match, only winning four games in three sets. That's the only previous meeting between these two players. To reach the last eight in this tournament, Pouille has beaten two unseeded players and then came from a set down to defeat eighth seeded Karen Khachanov. Djokovic can win this match and the tip is for over 18.5 games to be played.
