Machida will be on the road to Albirex Niigata in the Japanese topflight this weekend as the two go in the hunt for three points. Albirex will hope to leap from the relegation region, while Machida will seek to close in on the continental places. Below is our prediction of the match.

The hosts’ recent charge up the table has been slowed down by back-to-back defeats. Jin Okumura’s strike in their last outing only happened to be a consolation as they slumped to a 3-1 loss at Kawasaki Frontale.

It was the second straight game in which they conceded three times and the third in the last four league games. Shoring up defensively will definitely be an area to address. 

If a return to winning ways is the target, then Albirex will need to massively up their game because Machida arrives on two straight wins and with a good scoring run in recent matches.

The only negative for Machida coming off their last game would be the late penalty they conceded in the 2-1 win over Kashima Antlers. Early goals from Yuki Soma and Daihachi Okamura had well settled the match.

They have now failed to keep a clean sheet in four straight league matches, but in five of the last seven, they scored two or more goals.
