Nigeria - South Africa: Form Analysis
Arch rivals Nigeria and South Africa have reached the penultimate round of this competition by leveraging their excellent defences. Ranked 42nd in the current FIFA Rankings, Nigeria are the highest-ranked side left in the competition following the exit of Morocco (13th) and outgoing champions Senegal (20th). The Super Eagles came through through the group stages unbeaten, starting with a 1-1 win against Equatorial Guinea. Since then, they have won each of their next four matches without conceding a single goal. That run included back-to-back 1-0 wins over the Ivory Coast and Guinea-Bissau before a 2-0 victory against Cameroon in the Round of 16. Last week, Nigeria booked their spot in this match by beating an impressive Angola side 1-0 courtesy of an Ademola Lookman goal just before halftime. Since clinching their last AFCON title just over a decade ago, Nigeria have only reached the final four once, and in their last six AFCON semifinals, they have suffered five defeats.
South Africa have been waiting for an AFCON title since 1996, and their current journey to the last four marks their first appearance in this stage since 2000. Like their opponents, Bafana Bafana have relied heavily on their defence to get them through. The only goals they’ve conceded came in their opening match, which they lost 2-0 to Mali. Since then, South Africa locked up shop, beating Namibia 4-0 and drawing 0-0 against Tunisia in their final group-stage match. Heading to the Round of 16, Bafana Bafana were drawn against tournament favourites Morocco and pulled off an excellent 2-0 win to progress to the quarter-final. Against Cape Verde last week, South Africa were carried to victory by their captain and Mamelodi Sundowns keeper Ronwen Williams, who saved an incredible four of five penalties in a nail-biting shootout. Bafana Bafana are the lowest-ranked side left in the competition and have failed to beat Nigeria in their last two meetings. Still, they certainly cannot be ruled out of this one.

Nigeria & South Africa Squad Analysis
Ademola Lookman has emerged as one of the standout players for Nigeria in this competition, scoring three goals in his last two matches, and the Atalanta BC forward will be looking to add to that tally in this one. Victor Osimhen was substituted late in the match against Angola due to an apparent injury but was pictured in training and has not been ruled out of contention for this match.
South Africa’s entire backline is made up of players from Sundowns and is likely to remain unchanged after keeping four consecutive clean sheets. In attack, Hugo Broos is still searching for his best lineup and may consider shaking things up, which could open up a gap for the likes of Zakhele Lepasa and Jayden Adams to make it into the starting 11.

Our Nigeria vs South Africa Prediction
While Nigeria heads into this match as the favorites, they will be well aware that South Africa is a very difficult side to break down, especially after seeing them shutting out the likes of Morocco and Cape Verde in their last two matches. Both these sides are likely to prioritize keeping a clean sheet, and we feel that the first goal could easily end up being the winner here. Therefore, our Nigeria vs South Africa prediction: First Half - Under 1.5.
Nigeria vs South Africa - Other Interesting Predictions

Both these sides have kept four clean sheets in five matches in this competition.
Double Chance - Draw or South Africa
