For the first time in their history, Bologna are contesting for this cup, while Napoli are eyeing their first Super Cup gong since 2014. This encounter fittingly pits the reigning Italian champions against the Coppa Italia winners. Napoli are responsible for dethroning AC Milan, while Bologna saw off last year’s other finalists, Inter Milan, through penalties.

Napoli rose to the occasion, playing as underdogs in a match against holders Milan in the semi-finals. Goals from David Neres and Rasmus Hojlund ensured the Milan giants will not be winning back-to-back Super Cup titles.
They will hope to carry the same form to the final, though Napoli’s form this season has been seriously shaky. The Partenopei have especially struggled away from home.

Bologna are still on a shaky run even as they come into their first-ever Supercoppa final. In three of their last four matches, Bologna have failed to win in regular time.
They had to come from behind courtesy of Ricardo Orsolini’s penalty to draw level with Inter Milan in the semis. They would then complete the job in the shootouts. Bologna have done well in recent matches against Napoli and will be confident of extending the same here.
They have only lost once in the last six meetings with Napoli and won two. These two sides faced off in November, and Bologna claimed a 2-0 win at home.

David Neres will be the man to watch for Napoli in attack after nailing seven goal contributions coming into this game. He scored the opener in the semi-finals and hopes to extend that run here.
While Napoli seem to be set in attack, there is one name all their fans will be hoping to see on the pitch. Romelu Lukaku. The Belgian is back from a lengthy injury layoff and was benched in the semi.
With Rasmus Hojlund doing well in attack, the Dane, on nine goal involvements this season, will surely get another start. Stanislav Lobotka is also back from injury, but this game comes too soon for Kevin De Bruyne and Frank Anguissa.
Bologna are expected to make just one change from the team that started the semi.
As Napoli get their attackers in focus, Federico Ravaglia must be prepared for another big game. The keeper made two big saves to keep Bologna in Saudi Arabia beyond the semis and was deservedly named the man of the match.
It will not be all defensive for Bologna though, with Ricardo Orsolini bearing the goal threat, operating from the right flank. It is expected that from the team that started against Inter, only Federico Bernadeschi will be dropped after picking up an injury.
His replacement, Jonathan Rowe, will likely be the man picked to start.
