For the sixth time in their careers, Naomi Osaka and Cori Gauff will be squaring off. The two meet in the fourth round at the US Open. We have a prediction for the match, with the winner set to face Marta Kostyuk or Karolina Muchova.

Osaka hasn’t had a great season, but the North American swing has offered much promise. She reached the Montreal final to mark a stable run that she has carried over to Flushing Meadows.

A two-time champion here, Osaka overcame 15th seed Daria Kasatkina in the third round, improving her season’s tally to 30-12 and she’s now 22nd in the live rank. This is the first time this season that she’s reached the fourth round in Grand Slam events.

Gauff has gone the distance, winning the French Open title. After that she failed to impress in Wimbledon, and now a home major presents another opportunity.

The third seed has only lost twice in the 10 matches coming after her first-round defeat in Wimbledon. At the US Open, things have been pretty solid, only losing a set in her opening match.

She’s seen off Ajla Tomljanovic, Donna Vekic, and more recently, Magdalena Frech. Her latest win improved her record for the season to 38-12, and she’s at her all-time high live rank at second. Marking her eighth US Open appearance, Gauff has a 20-6 record at Flushing Meadows.
