Unseeded Josh Rock attempts to cause another upset in the World Matchplay Darts Championship. He takes on former world champion and third seed Michael van Gerwen in round two. Time for our match prediction.
Round one saw Rock defeat the 14th seed Ross Smith 10-5. Even better for the Irishman was the 104.32 average that he posted. The win over Smith means he has now won ten of his last 13 matches.
It's already been a big year for Rock. He won the World Cup of Darts with Northern Ireland and made it to the last four in this year's UK Open.
Michael van Gerwen has won his last two matches against Rock, most recently winning in May. The three-time World Matchplay Darts champion defeated fellow Dutchman Raymond van Barneveld in round one.
That match was won 10-6 but his average was only 91.84. Of his 32 chances at a checkout, only ten were converted. That's a big problem at present with his previous match against Rob Cross seeing him convert just six of his 21 checkout attempts.
Since reaching the World Championship final this year, his best run has been winning the German Darts Grand Prix.
