The final matchday of the 2024-25 A-League season will see Melbourne City play host to Sydney FC at AAMI Park on Saturday. The Hearts are second in the league standings, while the Sky Blues are seventh. Let’s get into the match prediction. 

While Auckland have already secured the league title, there is still plenty at stake for the teams behind them, including Melbourne City, who need a win here to secure second place. 

The Hearts enter this match off the back of a goalless draw against Adelaide United, which left them just a single point ahead of Western United. Western Sydney and Melbourne Victory are two and three points behind them, respectively. 

However, the hosts are now unbeaten in their last five games (W3 D2 L0), and have only lost one of their last 10 at AAMI Park, while maintaining seven clean sheets during that period. 

Meanwhile, Sydney are one point off qualifying for the final series, and given their solid goal difference, a draw here will be enough to move above sixth-placed Adelaide United.

The Sky Blues lost their last match 1-0 away to Western Sydney, which brought an end to their three-match unbeaten streak. They had also scored two or more goals in their four preceding games. 

The visitors have a mixed away record this season (W4 D4 L4), but they have failed to find the back of the net in four of their last six outings.
