Two seeds meet in the last 32 of the Shanghai Masters. Fifth seed Daniil Medvedev faces Matteo Arnaldi who is seeded 29th for this hard court tournament. Who'll make it into the next round? Here's our match prediction.

Daniil Medvedev is fifth in the rankings and one place higher in the ATP Race. The Russian is yet to win a tournament this year and not since 2017 has he gone through a calendar year without lifting a trophy.

He has reached two major finals though, getting to the title decider in the Australian Open and at Indian Wells. He's in good form at present with a run to the last four in Beijing in his most recent tournament.

Medvedev won this tournament back in 2019 and got off to a good start this year. He beat unseeded Thiago Seyboth Wild in straight sets, winning both of them 7-5. This is his fourth match against Arnaldi and he won the three previous ones, two on hard courts.

Matteo Arnaldi is the world number 36 and has never won a set in his two hard court matches against Medvedev. The Italian has shown some better form this week after losing in round one to Tommy Paul in the recent Japan Open.

He'll be wanting to recapture the form that saw him reach the last four in Montreal two months ago. So far in Shanghai, he's beaten qualifier Zachary Svajda but had to come from behind after losing the first set on a tie-break. We tip Medvedev to win this in straight sets.
