Kostyuk has had an easy ride in Beijing and will get her first really tough match when she takes on Pegula. The Ukrainian got a first-round bye before meeting two qualifiers in the second and third rounds.

The American is coming off a tough third-round outing, where she needed a third set to see off Emma Raducanu. That was her 45th win in a run of 64 matches in 2025. On hard courts, Pegula has compiled a 30-12 record so far.

If her fourth-round numbers are anything to go by, this should be easy sailing. She has posted an 8-2 record in this round and will target to go past the fourth round for the first time in Beijing.
