Emma Navarro is ninth in the live rankings but there's only eight seeds in the grass court Berlin Open. The American takes on fellow unseeded player Marta Kostyuk in round one of this star-studded WTA 500 tournament. Here's our match prediction.

Only one of the world's top ten is absent from this tournament. That's Iga Swiatek who still struggles to love grass courts. The winner of this match will take on either eighth seed Paula Badosa or German wild card Eva Lys in round two.

Navarro lost in round two at Queen's last week, being  beaten by eventual runner-up Amanda Anisimova. Before that though she'd had a good win over Beatriz Haddad Maia. The 24-year-old has won both of her previous matches against Kostyuk. This is their first match on a grass court.

Marta Kostyuk is 26th in the live rankings and has lost both of her last two matches. Both were on clay and this is her first grass court event of the year. Kostyuk has never made it past round three at Wimbledon and lost three of her five matches played last year on grass.

Last year saw her lose to Daria Kasatkina in round one of this tournament. We believe another first round loss beckons.
