Camila Osorio takes on Ajla Tomljanovic for a place in round two of the Monterrey Open. The winner will have a tough match next as the scheduled opponent is the second seed Emma Navarro. Who'll face her? Read our match prediction.

Osorio is 88th in the live rankings which is well below the career high of 33rd she was at two years ago. The Colombian is 65th in the WTA Live Race but hasn't made it past the last 16 of a tournament since a clay court tournament semi-final in May.

Clay is her best surface with one title being won this year. However, this is a hard court event and the final chance to get some form before next week's US Open. Her best results on hard courts this year have been two last 16 appearances.

Ajla Tomljanovic was due to have to qualify to get into the main draw. Withdrawals meant that instead the Australian didn't have to do that. Tomljanovic is at 119th in the live rankings. Her most recent tournament was in Cincinnati, losing in the first round to Varvara Gracheva. 

Last year saw her ranked as high as 32nd but only 108th in the Live ATP Race based on results achieved this year. It's been a disappointing 2024 so far with her best performances coming in June on grass with a final in Birmingham.

Her last three matches have all been lost, the last two on hard courts. We tip Osorio to win this match.
