The Premier League will serve one blockbuster before shutting doors for the November international break. Manchester City are set to take on Liverpool in a match that will leave ramifications on the top four, at least for a week or so. Hosted at Anfield, this match comes when both City and the Reds are chasing runaway leaders Arsenal. We have below the match preview and a prediction.
City will enter the weekend sitting second, while Liverpool are third, the two trailing Arsenal by six and seven points, respectively. Manchester City, though showing signs of struggling defensively, have had a good audition for this clash. After their 1-0 loss to Aston Villa, City have scored 10 times in the three matches that followed.
The most recent of them was the Champions League meeting with Borussia Dortmund, which ended 4-1. They also rose from their home defeat to Tottenham Hotspur in their first home game of the season.
The Etihad Stadium is now a fortress with six straight wins following that defeat to Spurs. In each of those six matches, City scored two or more goals and managed three clean sheets.
Liverpool claimed two straight wins in their latest meetings with Manchester City.
Liverpool, who led the league standings with five clear points after matchday five, are getting back to their best.
A 1-0 win at home against Real Madrid in the Champions League will give the Reds much encouragement here. Arne Slot’s side has now pocketed two straight wins, having earlier overcome Aston Villa 2-0.

If looking for a possible star player for Manchester City in this game, it can only be Erling Haaland. The Norwegian is in superb form, and City and his country have benefited a lot.
The forward has scored 19 times in the last nine home matches alone for club and country. He is chasing a record to become the fastest Premier League player to reach 100 goals.
That will be achieved if he can score two more goals. No one in the city setup has come anywhere close to his numbers. With 13 league goals, City’s next best scorer has one goal.
Only Mateo Kovacic is a doubt for Manchester City.
On the Liverpool side, the goals are more spread out, but the usual suspect, Mohamed Salah, leads with four goals and two assists.
Having at least four players with three or more goals, Liverpool will feel more like a team and not a one-man show. It is an advantage, knowing goals can come from anywhere, but Salah will remain the main channel.
Dominik Szoboszlai has been one of their most outstanding players this season even though he only has two goal involvements. His versatility has seen him even play in defence and when called upon, he did well.
