Anna Kalinskaya will compete in this year’s Wimbledon Championship as the 19th seed and begins her tournament against Magdalena Frech in the opening round. Both are struggling ahead of their fourth career meeting and first at a major. Kalinskaya, however, has a slightly better run, and this prediction backs her to win.

Frech hasn’t won a match at Wimbledon since the 2022 edition. She has exited the tournament in the first round in the three subsequent editions since. Competing on grass has become difficult for the Pole.

She hasn’t finished with a winning record on grass since 2023 and, so far this season, has lost three of four duels. Frech, who is on a three-match skid, lost in the first round in Bad Homburg last time out. She starts the week 44th in the live ranking.

Anna Kalinskaya has avoided a first-round defeat at this major in her last two appearances. Recording her best-ever performance at SW19 two seasons ago, the Russian will be keen to extend her first-round streak.

Kalinskaya recorded a fourth-round finish at Wimbledon back in 2024. So far this season, though, she hasn’t had the best of times on grass.

The Russian has lost twice in three grass fixtures. Currently ranked 20th in the WTA, Kalinskaya is coming off a second-round exit at Bad Homburg.
