Luxembourg will look to cling on to their slim chances of a top-two finish in Group J of the European qualifiers as they welcome Bosnia and Herzegovina, who are already confirmed of a play-off spot. This match will be played at the Luxembourg Stadium on Thursday with the hosts 3rd in the group with 11 points and the visitors 5th with nine points. Luxembourg are guaranteed a spot in the play-offs, but can stay in the top-two race if they win here and Slovakia lose to Iceland. That looked a possible result at the start of September when they won three straight matches in this campaign. Results have gone haywire since then with just a point across the next three games.

Bosnia are guaranteed to finish outside top-two, but thanks to their Nations League exploits, have advanced to play-offs. They have been the entertaining side of the group, winning three and losing five of their matches, Interestingly, five losses across their last seven matches in this campaign have taken the steam out of their campaign. One of those losses was a 2-0 defeat to Luxembourg in their previous match. That, incidentally, was Bosnia’s only defeat across eight matches against Luxembourg, winning the remaining seven. That would need them improve their recent away form though, as Bosnia have lost four of their last five away matches in all competitions. Three of those saw them fail to score, so the concerns will be high about another failure to find the net.
