Luke Littler will kick off his 2025 World Series of Darts finals against Simon Whitlock on Saturday afternoon at the AFAS Live in Amsterdam. The winner of this match between the Nuke and the Wizard will face either Jonny Clayton or Jason Brandon in round two. Let’s get into the match prediction.
Luke Littler is set to begin his WSOD finals title defence after becoming the youngest world champion in darts history at 17 years and 347 days last year.
The Nuke has been incredible again his year, with the World Championship, UK Open, World Matchplay and a European Tour title already to his name. He also won both the Australian and New Zealand Darts Masters prior to this competition.
Littler lost to Gian van Veen at the ET11 event last week, which ended his six-match win streak. He has only lost two of his last 24 matches since July.
Meanwhile, despite losing his PDC Tour Card last year and missing out on the 2025 PDC World Championship, Simon Whitlock is set to step out in his fourth straight WSOD finals this week.
The Wizard has not won a Major title in 2025, but he participated in the Australian and New Zealand Darts Masters, albeit he lost in the first round of both tournaments.
Whitlock’s defeat to Chris Dobey at the New Zealand Darts Masters was his fifth defeat in a row, while he has only won three of his last 10 matches across all competitions.
