When Andrew Gilding made his debut as a professional darts player, Luke Littler was just four years old. Fast forward to 2025 and the second seeded 'Nuke' faces the unseeded Gilding in the last eight of the World Matchplay Darts Championship, Here's our match prediction.
This match at the Blackpool Winter Gardens is being played over the best of 31 legs. For the winner, there'll be a semi-final on Saturday against either 11th seed Gerwyn Price or unseeded Josh Rock.
Littler is playing in his first World Matchplay Darts quarter-final. The world champion had to dig deep in the last round. He came from 7-2 down to defeat Jermaine Wattimena 13-11 with a 99.28 average. That was well below the 108.92 he achieved in his opening match against Ryan Searle.
54-year-old Andrew Gilding is in the last eight of this tournament for the second successive year. He has averaged over 100 in both of his matches so far this week. After beating seventh-seeded Damon Heta in round one, 'Goldfinger' defeated Dirk van Duijvenbode 11-5 in round two.
He has beaten Littler before, being victorous in a European Tour event last year. He only needed to win six legs on that occasion. We believe Littler will win this match on a -4.5 legs handicap.

Our Luke Littler vs Andrew Gilding Prediction
Andrew Gilding needs to recapture the form that saw him beat Luke Little 6-4 in a European Tour event last year. This match is being played over a much longer format and Littler has shown some battling spirit this week as well as a tournament best average in round one.
It's a massive match for Gilding who is three-times older than his opponent. He will hope Littler has problems checking out as he did at times in the last round That's unlikely and our Luke Littler v Andrew Gilding prediction is Luke Littler to win on a-4.5 legs handicap.
