Unseeded Matteo Berrettini meets fellow Italian and eighth seed Luciano Darderi in round one of the Stockholm Open. The winner will face unseeded opposition in round two, either Dominic Stricker or Aleksandar Kovacevic. Here's our match prediction.

Matteo Berrettini may be the unseeded player here but he's ahead of his opponent in the live rankings and ATP Race. His last tournament saw him lose in round two to Holger Rune but he did take him to a final set.

The 28-year-old had won five of his six matches before that defeat. The only loss came when retiring after losing the first set of his match against Arthur Fils in Tokyo. He's won three ATP Tour titles this year but all were won on clay.

He did reach the final of a hard court Challenger Tour event. That was back in May when making his comeback from injury. This is his first match against his compatriot.

Luciano Darderi dropped down a couple of places in the rankings after losing in round one of the Shanghai Masters. He was beaten in three sets by Fabio Fognini. That continued his poor run and was his sixth successive defeat.

His last win came in the Cincinnati Masters in mid-August when ranked 34th. That's the only victory he's had in his last ten matches. His best form has been on clay this year and the Italian has lost nine of his ten matches played on hard courts this year.
