With no LeBron James, the Lakers fell to a 119-109 home defeat at the hands of the Golden State Warriors to open the season. Luka Doncic put on a show, but his 43 points wasn’t enough to keep up with a Dubs team that shot 42.5% from three.
King James is going to miss out for the foreseeable future, with mid-November currently being quoted as a possible return time. Los Angeles now has a tough task at hand against the team that eliminated them via a gentleman’s sweep in last season’s playoffs.
Minnesota was one of the most impressive teams in the NBA last season, posting a 49-33 regular season record and eliminating the Lakers and Warriors to make the WCF. They kicked off their 2025-26 campaign on the right foot with a 118-114 comeback road win over the Trail Blazers.
The TWolves were trailing by eight points with nine minutes remaining but rode Anthony Edwards’ 41 points to ultimately walk away with the victory. Edwards was fantastic and was responsible for a 10-point flurry in the final four minutes to seal the win.
