Two unseeded players face each other in this Moselle Open second round match. Lorenzo Sonego is a worthy favourite to defeat Gilles Simon, with the winner up against either third seeded Lorenzo Musetti or Sebastian Korda in the quarter finals. Sonego began the week ranked 65th but is up three places after his first round straight sets win over the sixth seeded Aslan Karatsev  That's still well below the career high ranking of 21st he achieved last year. A win here will see him reach his first quarter final since the Stuttgart grass court tournament in June. He's a versatile player and capable on all surfaces and was a set away from beating Casper Ruud in the French Open this year.

Gilles Simon started this week down at 175th but was in the top ten 13 years ago. Before this tournament in his home country, Simon had only played ten matches on the ATP Tour this year, winning just four of them. He got a fifth victory for 2022 with a straight sets win over David Goffin in the first round. He has been playing on the Challenger Tour too but each of his last nine losses have been to players ranked outside the top 100 with two not even in the top 400. His only previous match against Sonego was on clay last year, with Simon losing in straight sets and winning just five games. It might be closer this time around but Sonego can be backed to win this. Have a side bet on him doing so in straight sets.
