Andrey Rublev is the second seed for this Swedish Open. He's the highest remaining seed after the exit of Casper Ruud and takes on unseeded Laslo Dere in the last eight.  Rublev began this tournament ranked eighth in the world which is three places lower than at the start of the year. That's despite the fact that the Russian is bidding to win a fourth tournament of the year having been successful in Montpellier, Dubai and on the clay of Belgrade. The latter win saw him beat Novak Djokovic in the final.  He reached the quarter finals at Roland Garros and Madrid but will want to go at least one round further here. Rublev had a tough second round match though (bye through to round two) needing a third set tie-break to get past Federico Coria.

Laslo Dere is the world number 53, one place lower than the start of the year. He's been down at 62nd in the rankings though but down to 69th in the live rankings as he's about to drop the points earned when reaching the Hamburg semi-finals this time last year, His form has been a worry of late with four defeats in five matches. He's reached one semi-final on clay this year, that was in Marrakesh but no top 80 ranked players were beaten. He's been in better form back on clay this week with wins over Lorenzo Musetti and qualifier Marc-Andrea Husler. This is a lot tougher and the bet is on Rublev to win.
