Stage 18 of La Vuelta is an Individual Time Trial. There are some smart riders in the field in this discipline from which to make a prediction.

There are few more consistent riders when it comes to a time trial than Filippo Ganna. Ineos were disappointing in the team time trial, and Ganna appears to have saved himself for this individual opportunity to get back on the scoresheet.

Daan Hoole was the winner of one of the Individual Time Trials in the Giro. That was a bit of a surprise, beating Joshua Tarling that day, but he followed that up by taking the Dutch National Champion jersey in this discipline.

UAE won the Team Time Trial earlier in La Vuelta. Jay Vine finished adrift of his team, having put in a huge effort, this might see him to better effect. Joao Almeida and Juan Ayuso are others who are solid in this discipline and should be noted.

A flat time trial like this is perfect for Stefan Küng. He needs to step up on his 2025 efforts in this sphere; however, he's been a touch disappointing so far, but he is far too dangerous to discount completely.

Bruno Armirail is better known for his attacking ways, but he can really get the hammer down in a time trial as well. His strength in this discipline is what makes him so explosive when leaving a peloton behind. He was fourth in the flat ITT in the Tour de France.

La Vuelta - Stage 18 - La Vuelta prediction key points

Stage 18 is 27.2km long, starting and ending in Valladolid.
The stage is almost completely flat with only 204 vertical metres to climb.
There are eight Grand Tour stage wins in the career of Filippo Ganna, seven of which are time trials. In fact, 28 of his 35 career wins have come in this discipline.
Ganna has been conspicuous by his absence so far in La Vuelta, perhaps saving his energy for a single stage, this one!
