Both players really have it all to to in this group after losing their opening games. Petra Kvitova lost in straight sets to Angelique Kerber despite leading 3-0 in the second set. Lucie Safarova also tasted defeat in her opening game going down in straight sets to Garbine Muguruza.  The two players have met seven times in the past with all of their previous matches being won by Kvitova and four of those wins were on the hard court surface that this game will be played on. Kvitova has won three tournaments this season and that includes a win in New Haven where she just happened to beat Safarova in the final. Safarova has won one tournament this year and her greatest moment was reaching the final of the French Open where she lost to Serena Williams. That was on clay of course and since then she hasn't had the greatest of years with her best performance being that loss in the New Haven final to Kvitova. The points she earned in France though helped her reach Singapore. This should be a good game and I go for Kvitova to maintain her dominance over Safarova and keep alive her hopes of making the last four.
