The 2025 World Series of Darts finals kick off this week at the AFAS Live in Amsterdam, with Kevin Doets taking on Jermaine Wattimena in the first round on Friday. The winner of this match between Hawkeye and the Machine Gun will face either Luke Humphries or James Wade in round two. Let’s get into the match prediction.
Kevin Doets is returning to the World Series of Darts finals for a second consecutive year following a run to the last 16 in 2024 when he was eliminated by Rob Cross 6-5.
Hawkeye made waves at the start of the year when he beat Michael Smith at the Ally Pally. However, he struggled to kick on from that, with his best results since then being last 16 appearances on the European Tour and the Players Championship.
Doets bowed out of the PC27 competition in midweek in the first round against Andy Baetens and now has six wins and four defeats in his last 10 matches.
Meanwhile, Jermaine Wattimena will be featuring in his first World Series of Darts finals since 2019 and qualified via the World Series Order of Merit.
The Machine Gun won his first-ever PDC ranking title at PC23 in July. Aside from that, he has featured in one quarter-final on the European Tour and a couple of last 16s in the World Championships and Masters.
Wattimena lost to Krzysztof Ratajski in the PC27 third round, and like his upcoming opponent, is 6-4 in his last 10 matches.
