The qualifier Katerina Siniakova and the wildcard Karolina Pliskova will square off in the first round in Adelaide. This will be the third-ever meeting between the two and the winner will go on to play Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova for a quarterfinal berth. Katerina Siniakova was in fine form in the qualifying rounds and will hope to keep this momentum going. She won both her qualifiers without dropping a set and defeated Bernarda Pera by the loss of four games in her last match. Siniakova began her season in Brisbane and lost in the first round. The 27-year-old has now won seven of her last 10 matches stretching from last season and is ranked 55th in the live ranking.

Karolina Pliskova also started her campaign in Brisbane and got out of the first round before exiting in the second. The Czech former world number one is at the moment ranked 37th in the WTA. Last season, she played in Adelaide for the first time but never got out of the first round. Pliskova is a strong performer on hard courts and also has won both times she has been paired up against Siniakova. Their last meeting however was six seasons ago. Pliskova had a shaky season in 2023 and finished the campaign having won just three more matches than the 19 she lost.
