Fourth-seed Jordan Thompson is one match away from his second  hard court ATP Tour final of the year. He takes on qualifier Juncheng Shang in the last four of the Atlanta Open. Read on to discover our prediction for this semi-final match.

The Australian is up 37th in the live rankings. He still has some way to go to ensure a seeding at next month’s US Open but reaching the final will take him to 33rd in the live list. He's playing in Atlanta despite having withdrawn from the Olympic tournament.

It's been a week of surprises in Atlanta and Thompson is the only remainiing seeded player. He's had wins over Harold Mayot and in Friday’s quarter-final,beat the fifth seed Alejandro Davidovich Fokina. It took him three sets to win that match, losing the middle set.

Juncheng Shang is the only qualifier remaining in the draw. The Chinese player has beaten seeded players in both of the last two rounds. The 19-year-old had to win two matches to get into the main draw and struggled in the first of them.

He had to come from a set down to defeat Liam Broady but then had an easier time against J J Wolf. He's made excellent progress in the main draw with three straight sets victories. Top seed Ben Shelton was beaten in round two and he then defeated eighth seeded Max Purcell.

His wins this week have taken him to a new career-high of 73rd in the live rankings. If he was to beat Thompson, the Chinese player can move up to 62nd.  He's had three previous matches against Thompson (all on an outdoor hard court) and leads 2-1. We tip him to win this semi-final.
