Third seed Jessica Pegula is up against the unseeded Madison Keys in the quarter-finals of the 2026 Berlin Tennis Championships. Their first-ever matchup on a grass court is also their fifth career meeting. Keys hasn’t beaten a top-five opponent since the 2025 Australian Open, and our prediction swings Pegula’s way.

Pegula defeated Keys earlier this year and will be eyeing a repeat to continue her quest for another Berlin title. The American beat her compatriot at the Australian Open to tie up this series at 2-2.

To set up this showdown, the world number four outmuscled qualifier Katerina Siniakova in the second round. She won in straight sets to improve to a 29-7 record.

Pegula was crowned Berlin champion two seasons ago, winning her maiden tour title on grass.

Keys lost in straight sets to Pegula, ending her title defence in Melbourne back in January. That loss snapped a run of back-to-back victories in this fixture.

Keys, whose last win over Pegula was in the final of the 2025 Adelaide tournament, started this week’s event in the first round. Yet to drop a set in the German capital, the American outscored seventh seed Karolina Muchova in the last round.

A slow start to the season saw Keys drop out of the WTA top 10. She is currently 24th in the live ranking after winning her eighth fixture in the last 10 outings.
