Can Jenson Brooksby avoid a tenth successive defeat? Round one of the Queen's Club grass court tournament in London sees him face qualifier Martin Damm. His opponent has already won six grass court matches this season and our prediction is he will defeat Brooksby.

The winner will face either lucky loser Aleksandar Kovacevic or seventh seed Francisco Cerundolo.

Jenson Brooksby was the losing finalist in the Eastbourne grass court tournament last year. He would love to recapture that form after nine straight losses. Last week saw him beaten in the first round of the Libema Open by Zhizhen Zhang. That was his 11th first round exit of 2026.

He has won only four of his 18 matches this year and is 72nd in the live rankings.

Martin Damm is 33 places below his opponent on that list. His live ranking of 105th is a career-high though. He has a 24-17 record this year and has won six of his nine grass court matches. All but one of his wins have come in qualifying rounds with a best of a round two in the Libema Open.

Damm won both of his qualifying matches for this tournament in straight sets.

The one previous match between these players was won by Brooksby, five years ago on clay.
