Top seeded Jelena Ostapenko faces the sixth seed Emma Raducanu in the Seoul Open semi-finals. The winner takes on either second seeded Ekaterina Alexandrova or the seventh seed Tatjana Maria in the final. For Raducanu, it's the second tournament since her first round exit when defending her US Open title. That loss saw her plummet down the rankings to 83rd. Now the British player is up to 66th and a win over Ostapenko will see her rise another five places. Raducanu has won three matches this week without losing a set. That includes beating third seeded Magda Linette in the quarter final. It's the first time since the 2021 US Open that Raducanu has won three matches in a tournament. Her fitness is always something that has to be considered but it seems to be ok this week.

Jelena Ostapenko began this week ranked 19th in the world. The Latvian is up to 18th in the live rankings and a win over Raducanu will see her rise another place. Ostapenko had only won one of her last four matches before this tournament. The top seed is chasing her second tournament victory of the year after success in Dubai. Ostapenko also reached the final of the Eastbourne grass court tournament as well as semi-finals in St Petersburg and Doha. That's form which puts her a long way ahead of her opponent in achievements this year. This tournament began with a three-set win over wild card Jeong Bo-Young and followed that with another final set decider with Anastasia Gasanova.
