Daria Kasatkina is through to yet another Adelaide International final and will battle sixth seed Jelena Ostapenko for the title. This is the eighth time that the two players are meeting in their careers. Jelena Ostapenko has the head-to-head advantage over Kasatkina and will therefore be confident of a win here. She has won five times against Kasatkina and is on a three-match winning run against her at the moment. The Latvian, who has won six of seven matches this season, is set to play in her 15th career tour final. She is a six-time champion. Ostapenko defeated Ekaterina Alexandrova in the semifinals in straight sets. Her run to the final has allowed her to get back to the WTA top 10 and is ranked 10th in the live ranking.

Daria Kasatkina has been on the receiving end against Ostapenko most of the time but she has the biggest win of all. One of the Russian’s two wins against Ostapenko came in the only previous final meeting between the two. This was back in 2017 when she defeated Ostapenko in straight sets to lift the Charleston Open title. It was her maiden tour triumph. Six years later she comes to this latest meeting as a six-time tour champion. Kasatkina has had a unique run to the final here as she has twice been granted a walkover. Laura Siegemund withdrew from their quarterfinal clash and then Jessica Pegula did the same in the semis. Kasatkina has won four of the five fixtures she has played so far this year. She is now up to 14th in the live ranking. The 26-year-old finished as runner-up in Adelaide last season.
