World number two Jannik Sinner is playing in the Qatar ExxonMobil Open for the first time. In the quarter-finals of this outdoor hard court tournament. Sinner faces sixth-seeded Jakub Mensik. Read our match prediction below.
The semi-final opponent for the winner will be either eighth-seed Jiri Lehecka or unseeded Arthur Fils.
Jannik Sinner is the second seed behind Carlos Alcaraz in this ATP 500 tournament. He’s playing only his second tournament of 2026. The other saw him lose to Novak Djokovic in the last four of the Australian Open.
Sinner has had two straight sets victories over Tomas Machac and Alexei Popyrin so far this week in Doha. 21 games were played in the latter of those two victories. The Italian won 24 of his 27 outdoor hard court matches last year, winning two tournaments and losing a couple of finals.
Unlike his opponent, Jakub Mensik has already won one tournament this year, being successful in Auckland. He reached round four in the Australian Open but then withdrew. This is his first tournament since then. 2024 saw him reach the final here. He’s beaten Jan Choinski (after losing the first set) and Ethan Quinn.
This is the first match between these two players and we tip more than 18.5 games.

Our Jannik Sinner vs Jakub Mensik Prediction
Jannik Sinner suffered defeat in the Australian Open so will be keen to get another title under his belt. The Italian world number two has already had a couple of straight sets wins in Doha this week but didn't have it all his own way in round two.
Jakub Mensik has won one tournament in 2026 and was going well in the Australian Open until injury caused his withdrawal. In form he can give Sinner a stern test though a win over the second seed is unlikely. Our Jannik Sinner v Jakub Mensik prediction is more than 18.5 games.
