Sixth seeded Daniil Medvedev faces unseeded Jannik Sinner in the ABN AMRO Open. Medvedev was top of the rankings last year but started this tournament down in 11th place. He's up to tenth in the live rankings and winning his first title since last October, can move him up to eighth. The Russian is in only his third tournament of the year. He reached the last four in the first Adelaide International but was knocked out in the last 32 of the Australian Open, losing to Sebastian Korda. This is his first event since then and a bit of rust was shown in the first round. He lost the first set to Alejandro Davidovich-Fokina but hasn't lost one since. He's been in impressive form when beating Botic Van de Zandschlup, Felix Auger-Aliassime and Grigor Dimitrov. Since that first set of the tournament being lost, Medvedev has won eight sets for the loss of only 17 games. He's won all four previous meetings with Sinner, the most recent being in Vienna last October for the loss of only six games.

Jannik Sinner began this tournament ranked 14th. His run to the final has seen him rise to 12th in the live rankings. He'll stay in that position even if winning this final. Sinner has made a good start to the new year. He won two of his three matches representing Italy in the United Cup, his only loss being to Sebastian Korda. in the Australian Open, Sinner made it to the last 16, losing to eventual runner-up Stefanos Tsitsipas in five sets, after coming from 2-0 down. Last week saw him win the ATP 250 tournament in Montpellier, beating Maxime Cressy in the final but no top 50 players were beaten. This week has seen a continuation of his good form and he got revenge on Tsitsipas by beating him in the second round. Only one set has been lost and that was to Benjamin Bonzi in the first round. The semi-final saw him beat Tallon Greikspoor in straight sets. This is tougher and Medvedev can get the win.
