It's October and Novak Djokovic has only won ATP Tour title this year. The fourth seed takes on unseeded Jakub Mensik in the last eight of the hard court Shanghai Masters tournament. Read our match prediction below.
Djokovic's only title came when winning the gold medal at the Paris Olympics but that was played on clay at Roland Garros. On hard courts, the Serb is yet to reach a final this year. He's only made it to two title deciders, the other being on grass at Wimbledon.
He's fourth in the world rankings and eighth in the ATP Race. A win over Mensik will take him up to seventh and boost his chances of reaching the Tour Finals. Djokovic has won the Shanghai Masters four times but not since 2018.
This tournament has seen him beat Alex Michelsen (both sets going to a tie-break), Flavio Cobolli and Roman Safiullin and is yet to drop a set.
Jakub Mensik is up to a career-high 51st in the live rankings, 14 places higher than in the most recent published list. Unlike his esteemed opponent, Mensik has reached one ATP Tour hard court final this year. That was in the event held in Doha eight months ago.
He's had a tough run to this quarter-final with all four of his matches going to a final set. That has included beating the sixth seed Andrey Rublev and in his most recent match, Grigor Dimitrov who was seeded tenth.
