World No. 7 Australia will travel to face 10th-ranked Italy in their 2025 Tour of the Northern Hemisphere on Saturday. Can the Wallabies return to winning ways against the Blues after their defeat to England? Here is our prediction for the clash.
Australia lost both halves, conceding 15 unanswered points in the second half, and ultimately fell 25-7 to England in their opening test in the 2025 Tour of the Northern Hemisphere. This result saw Joe Schmidt's side record their fourth defeat in five tests dating back to their Rugby Championship loss to Argentina in September.
However, the Wallabies have won seven of their last nine tests against lower-ranked opponents dating back to the 2023 Rugby World Cup, including two of their last three away tests against such teams.
Italy enters this match with two consecutive defeats – the most recent of which was a 45-0 shutout defeat to World No. 1 South Africa. The last time the Blues defeated a higher-ranked team was in the 2024 Six Nations clash against Scotland.
They have lost their subsequent eight tests against higher-ranked sides since then. These include four consecutive home defeats – the most recent of which was a 22-17 loss to Ireland in March 2025.
