The Autumn Nations Series is here, and the pick of the matches this weekend will see Ireland taking on New Zealand at Soldier Field in Chicago. The Shamrocks are ranked third in the world ahead of this month’s fixtures, while the All Blacks are second. Let’s get into the match prediction!
Ireland will have fond memories of Soldier Field, as it was at this very venue that they earned their first-ever victory against the All Blacks, 40-29, back in 2016. Since then, the Shamrocks have notched up a further four wins against this opponent.
Despite losing their Six Nations title to France, the Shamrocks have an excellent record over the past year, with nine wins and just two defeats in their last 11 games since last year’s Autumn series.
Andy Farrel has opted for Jack Browley at fly-half ahead of Sam Pendergrast. Caelan Doris makes the bench following injury, which means Dan Sheehan will skipper the team.
Meanwhile, New Zealand has won the last two matches between these sides, with the most recent being a 23-13 victory in last year’s Autumn Series.
The All Blacks were beaten to the title by South Africa in the Rugby Championship in September, but still have a solid record of 10 wins and three losses in the last year.
Scott Robertson has made four changes to his side for this match, headlined by the returns of Beauden Barrett and Caleb Clark at fly-half and left wing, respectively.
