Ireland look to bounce back after their 23-13 home defeat to New Zealand last week. Friday sees them host Argentina who had a big win away against Italy last week. The Irish side haven't lost consecutive internationals since a tour of New Zealand two years ago. After this match, they take on Fiji and Australia so will want to get back into winning ways before the Six Nations tournament begins in early 2025.
Argentina are fifth in the world rankings and that's two places below their opponents in this match. The Pumas haven't had a win over Ireland since 2015 when beating them in a Rugby World Cup match. Since that win, Ireland have won the three matches that have followed, all played in Dublin. They will make history if winning this match as they have never recorded a victory over Ireland in Dublin. Ireland - Argentina: Form Analysis
Ireland will want a good win from this match and the ones against Fiji and Australia that follow it. They have lost three of their last five matches, most recently suffering a rare home loss in Dublin. They were beaten 23-13 by New Zealand last Friday and won't want a repetition of that. Their other losses in 2024 were at Twickenham against England in the Six Nations and an away test match this summer in South Africa.
Ireland have an impressive home record against Argentina.
This is the first time they have played Argentina since 2021. They have won their last three games against them (all on home soil) but are expecting a much tougher game than their last meeting. That saw Ireland beat the Pumas 53-7. They are yet to lose at home to Argentina.
Argentina finished third in this year's Rugby Championship. They won three of their matches but lost the same number. Last week saw them get a comfortable 50-18 win away to Italy They only led by seven points at the break but put 33 past Italy in the second half.

Ireland & Argentina Squad Analysis
Ireland have made just the one change to their starting line-up for this home match against Argentina. A change comes in midfield with Bundee Aki being replaced by Robbie Henshaw. He will partner Garry RIngrose as Ireland look to get the win this Friday. History will be made by Cian Healy as he makes his 133rd international appearance and that puts him level with Brian O'Driscoll.
There are a couple of changes as far as replacements on the bench are concerned. Thomas Clarkson and Sam Prendergast have been called up. Both play for Leinster and are uncapped.
Matera returns for Argentina.
Argenina have Pablo Matera back in their starting line-up. He was unable to play for them in last week's victory in Italy due to suspension but that's over now. Coming into the starting line-up is Matias Moromi who replaces Matias Orlando. There are a couple of additions to the bench with the inclusion of Santiago Carreras and Justo Piccardo. If Piccardo gets on the pitch, he'll be making his international debut.
