Saturday was a good day for Hubert Hurkacz as he beat Rafael Nadal in straight sets. That took the seventh seed into the third round of the  outdoor clay court Italian Open and a match against 25th seeded Tomas Martin Etcheverry. Up next for the winner is either tenth seeded Holger Rune or 17th seed Sebastian Baez. Hurkacz only dropped four games when beating Nadal in round two. He's been consistent on clay this year. The title was won in Estoril and he got to the last 16 in both Monte Carlo and Madrid. The Pole is up to eighth in the world rankings and is in the third round of this tournament for the second time. 

This is the first match between Tomas Martin Etcheverry and Hubert Hurkacz. The world number 28 has had a busy time on clay this year as he played on the South American tour. He put in some consistent performances there with the last eight reached in both Cordoba and Buenos Aires. He then got to the semi-finals in the US clay court championships. Moving to Europe, he has made it to the last four in Barcelona and most recently the quarter-finals of the Challenger Tour event held in Aix-en-Provence. This week has so far seen him beat unseeded Thiago Seyboth Wild in straight sets to get past round two in Rome for the first time. This should be a good match and we go for Hurkacz to get the victory.
