Hugo Gaston vs Facundo Diaz Acosta Prediction & Betting Tips - ATP Kitzbuhel Open

Unseeded Hugo Gaston’s excellent run in Kitzbuhel will continue when he plays world number 77 Facundo Diaz Acosta. The two will battle in the semi-finals with the winner playing Matteo Berrettini or Yannick Hanfmann in the championship match. Here’s our prediction for the match set for Friday.

This will be the third meeting between the two, with each player having won once. Gaston hasn’t had much success at tour level in his career and will hope that changes here. The Frenchman, who is debuting in Kitzbuhel, has progressed this far at a tour event for only the second time.

He defeated defending champion Sebastian Baez in three sets to move into the last four. The 2021 Gstaad finalist has now won 26 matches and 14 have been on clay. His run in Austria has moved him up 21 places to 70th in the live ranking. Gaston defeated Diaz Acosta two weeks ago in Hamburg in three sets.

Facundo Diaz Acosta has also made a huge leap in the live ranking thanks to his splendid form in this ATP 250 event. The Argentine has shot up 18 places and is now ranked 59th. To advance to this round, he mounted a comeback against fourth seed Pedro Martinez and won with a decider.

He has now claimed 18 wins and 16 came on clay. His form on the surface saw him claim his first tour title when he triumphed in his native Buenos Aires during the Golden Swing. As he has had more recent success in the latter stages of tour events than Gaston, Diaz Acosta will fancy his chances here. The 23-year-old defeated Gaston last year in the challenger circuit on clay.
