Top seed Holger Rune looks to avoid a shock exit in round two of the Open Sud de France. He takes on qualifier Pedro Llamis Ruiz for a place in the last eight of this indoor hard court tournament. The Spaniard made smooth progress through qualifying winning both of his matches in straight sets and dropping five games in each one. That took him into a first round match against Richard Gasquet and he upset the home crowd with a straight sets win over the Frenchman. Those three wins have taken him up ro 146th in the live rankings, still 15 places below his career high. Ruiz began the year on the Challenger Tour and got to the quarter finals in Tenerife.
