Golden Lions host Western Province in Currie Cup Premier Division matchday two fixture on Saturday at Ellis Park Stadium. Can the Lions maintain their winning start to the season as they take on Province? Here is our prediction for the match.

After losing last season's final at Ellis Park Stadium, Golden Lions secured an impressive revenge win against defending champions Hollywoodbets Sharks XV at the same venue in their opening match. A 24-0 first-half shutdown and a 17-point lead in the second half saw them come away with a blowout 46-5 victory. 

This result marked their eighth victory in nine Currie Cup matches. They have also won four of their last five home fixtures and will aim to maintain this winning momentum on Saturday.

Western Province recorded their fifth Currie Cup defeat in six matches following a heavy 48-23 home loss to Blue Bulls in their opening match last week. They have also lost five of their last six Currie Cup away matches, including three consecutive defeats on the road.

New head coach Labeeb Levy will face a huge task reversing this poor run of form when they travel to take on the Lions on Saturday. They have lost three of their last four matches against the Johannesburg club by 19 points or more.
